5 . Emma is a little unhappy. Because today is her birthday, too, but no one in her class says “Happy birthday” to her. They are all busy having the birthday party for their teacher Mr. Smith.
Mr. Smith is a great teacher. That’s for sure. He knows everyone’s birthday and makes cards for them. He always tries his best to help all the students with their studies. Emma knows Mr. Smith should get a birthday party. But she hopes somebody can remember today is also her birthday!
Emma looks at the card the classmates made. It is so big and so long. All the classmates make the card for Mr. Smith, just as Mr. Smith does for them.
“Emma, will you turn off the lights, please?” Sally says. “I will call Mr. Smith now.” When Sally finishes the call, Emma looks around the classroom with a sigh (叹息) and turns off the lights.
The door opens and everyone cheers, “Happy birthday, Mr. Smith!” “This party is for me?” Mr. Smith asks. He walks to the big card and says, “This is the most beautiful card in the world.” Then he walks to Emma and gives her a card. “Happy birthday, Emma. I am so happy we share the same party.”
“Me, too.” Emma says, smiling at Mr. Smith. “Happy birthday, Emma!” her classmates cheer.
