What do you like doing in your free time? Riding bikes, watching movies, or hanging out with friends perhaps? Angelina Arora, from Sydney Girls High School, is doing all these things. But Angelina is not very ordinary. She is a girl who invented a new type of plastic. It breaks down in about 33 days, which is 1.5 million times faster than the traditional plastic.
“This will cut down the air, water, and land pollution caused by plastic,” Angelina said. “Plastic breaks down into nothing and is made from shrimp shells (虾壳).”
Angelina first thought about inventing a new type of plastic when she was 14 years old. She learned that it was important to prevent people from using common plastic bags and help save the planet. Angelina began doing experiments on her plastic after that. The journey was not easy. She would start in the lab around 4 a.m. before school and would often spend long nights working on her invention.
The girl hoped to encourage young people to make a difference in the world. Angelina's hard work paid off. Later, she finally won several prizes for her invention since it was invented. She has also been invited to a well-known US university. Surely, this young girl has a bright future ahead of her.
